The Boys star Brittany Allen is the latest actor to join the line-up for the upcoming Dexter prequel.
According to Deadline, Dexter: Original Sin will see Allen play the recurring role of Dexter's biological mother, Laura Moser. The ten-episode drama series will be set in Miami during 1991, 15 years before the events of the original show.
Patrick Gibson will play a young Dexter who is beginning to refine his killer skills. Dexter's adoptive father Harry (Christian Slater) is his only confidant as he struggles to contain his bloodthirsty urges.

Harry teaches his son how to find and kill people who deserve to die, and more importantly, how to avoid getting caught. But as a forensics intern at the Miami Metro Police Department, it won't be easy for Dexter to hide his actions.

Joe Pantoliano, Carlo Mendez, Randy Gonzalez, Raquel Justice, Aaron Jennings, Jasper Lewis, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi and Roberto Sanchez will all join Allen as recurring characters in season 1.
Among the already impressive cast are previously announced stars Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Reno Wilson, Alex Shimizu, Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Geller.

The Dexter franchise has already received a sequel series, which was axed after just one season. Dexter: New Blood saw Michael C. Hall reprise his leading role, as Dexter lived under a new identity with his son Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott).
In the show's divisive finale, Dexter's story came to an end as he was murdered by his son. But Harrison's future was left unwritten as the troubled teenager wasn't arrested for his crime. Could another sequel be on the cards soon?
Dexter: Original Sin will air on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK. Dexter and Dexter: New Blood are both available to stream on NOW.
