Showtime won't be renewing Dexter: New Blood for a second season.
According to TVLine, bosses at the network have decided to cancel the crime drama after one season.

However, Showtime isn't finished with the Dexter franchise just yet. Network executives are reportedly looking into developing a prequel series.
A continuation of original series Dexter, Dexter: New Blood follows Michael C. Hall's titular character and his son Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott), with the serial killer living under the new identity Jim Lindsay.

Last January, the sequel series aired its divisive season one finale, in which the increasingly troubled Harrison murdered his father after uncovering his true identity.
At the time, series showrunner Clyde Phillips touched on the idea of a second season of Dexter: New Blood, saying the show's future was ultimately down to Showtime.
"It's all in Showtime's hands," he said (via TVLine). "If they were to call me and say, 'We want to do [a show focused on] Harrison. We want you to figure it out', I'm pretty busy, but I would drop everything I'm doing and jump right into it.
"I would love to do it, but it's really up to Showtime."

However, Showtime Networks president Gary Levine later suggested that the series was a one-off.
"It's too soon to say," he told TVLine when asked about the possibility of a continuation.
"We're still basking in the glow of the limited series, which was everything we hoped for."
Dexter: New Blood aired on Showtime in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK. All episodes of Dexter are also available on NOW.
