Dexter: Original Sin, the '90s-set prequel to the Michael C Hall series, has confirmed it is coming back for a second season.

The show premiered in December and ran until Valentine's Day, and it has done well enough for Paramount+/Showtime to greenlight a season 2.

Deadline writes that creator and executive producer Clyde Phillips will be back for the new season, while a writers' room is set to assemble soon. Production dates are set to be confirmed in due course as well.

Original Sin stars Patrick Gibson as a 15-year-old version of Michael C Hall's serial killer, while Hall narrates. Our titular antihero has discovered his murderous urges and is struggling to deal with them.

His adoptive father, Harry, played by Christian Slater, teaches him to follow a code so he only kills those who deserve it, while he begins an internship at the police department's forensics team to fly under the radar.
