The Grammy-nominated rapper, known for his collaborations with Jennifer Lopez and Ashanti, will star in MTV's Follow The Rules - a comedic series that will document his hectic household.
The show's half-hour episodes will see Ja Rule and his wife 'attempt to keep control' of the rapper's extended family, including his two teenage sons, mother and mother-in-law - who all live under the same roof.
In a statement, president of MTV programming Susanne Daniels said: "Ja Rule is the modern day reality rap star version of Bill Cosby's role from The Cosby Show."
"He embraces a unique parenting style with his teenage kids that feels fresh and funny. We're excited to be in business with him and his delightful family."
The rapper also took to Twitter to celebrate the news.
Thanks to @mtv and @51Minds for letting me showcase my CRAZY family on #FollowtheRules gonna be a lot of fun! #Maven #Visionary #Flavorunit
