Lifetime has announced plans for an Aaliyah biopic starring singer/actress Zendaya.
The television movie will chronicle the life of the R&B singer, who died tragically in a plane crash in 2001.
Zendaya is best known for her work acting on the Disney Channel, and as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
In 2013, she released a self-titled album that featured the platinum-selling single 'Replay'.
Aaliyah: Princess of R&B will be based on the bestselling biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman, and produced by Aaliyah Productions, Inc.
An Aaliyah album featuring Drake was planned in 2012, but scrapped after objections from the singer's family and fans.
