By USA Network has picked up a new series from Heroes creator Tim Kring and Homeland's Gideon Raff.
Dig will be a six-episode action-adventure event series, and will premiere on the network in late 2014.
The show follows Peter, an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem, who is investigating the murder of a woman archaeologist.
However, he soon uncovers a conspiracy going back 2,000 years that may change the entire course of history.
NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment's Jeff Wachtel said: "As we enter this new chapter for our studio and our portfolio, we've been looking for a project that makes a statement.
"This team of storytellers has put together a smart, sophisticated and compelling show that will hit the market with a big bang and a lasting impression."
Tim Kring is also developing a TV sequel to classic movie The Wizard of Oz.
