Emily Atack and Danny Dyer's new game show that has earned comparisons with The Traitors continued airing tonight, with fans reacting to a shock withdrawal from one of the contestants.

The reality TV series follows a group of ten contestants living in a 'Smart House' and taking part in daily challenges to prove their intelligence and increase the group prize pot. As with The Traitors, there's a little scheming going on as each contestants can lie about their contribution to the prize pot to avoid being singled out as the weak link and face potential elimination.

Tonight, John decided to leave the competition after failing a challenge. Maintaining his honesty policy, he opted not to lie to the group.

"I wish the remaining players the very best of luck. And I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Danny and to Emily for making the competition such f**king good fun. Thank you," John said after announcing his exit, then adding in relation to his f-bomb: "Are we allowed to say that?"

Fans reacted to the twist on social media as reactions ranged from admiration for John's decision and confusion over why he wouldn't lie as that's part of the game.

"Why did John drop out rather than just admit a low score and let them vote him out," one fan of the show asked on Twitter/X, while someone else labelled John "too much of a gentleman".

"What a guy," they added.

"What a gent is John," someone else agreed, with another fan also sharing that John was among their favourites: "Oh no, I loved John. One of the only people that actually has some integrity."

A confused fan penned: "John decided to LEAVE? Why would you join a show like this if you're not prepared to lie? That's like signing up for Mastermind only to walk because there's too many general knowledge questions!"

Finally, Nobody's Fool star Melissa Todd appeared to side with the fans loving John, colourfully branding her co-star a "classy bastard indeed".

The show's element of deception has prompted some comparisons with The Traitors, as one viewer of Nobody's Fool said the new show is among the best "rip-offs" of the BBC hit series.

"Okay, so I watched #NobodysFool, and in terms of Traitors rip-offs, it was definitely one of the better ones," they wrote last week.

The similarities have been apparent to host Dyer too, who admitted Nobody's Fool "does sound a bit" like the game hosted by Claudia Winkleman, though the EastEnders star insisted it's its own beast.

"I actually watch it unfold on the television and I would sit back and, you know, it's a different kind of thing", Dyer said in an interview with The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio earlier this month.

"And it does sound a bit like The Traitors… but it's got its own energy."

Nobody's Fool airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
