Alex Kingston made history, not once but twice, on this week's episode of Strictly Come Dancing. Returning to the ballroom alongside her professional partner, Johannes Radebe, on Saturday, the Doctor Who star floored the judges after performing a "perfect" rumba to Tracy Chapman's 'Fast Car'.

After winning the admiration of all four judges, Shirley Ballas was particularly moved and, in a history-making moment, left the desk to congratulate Kingston. "I have to come down here. I have to tell you. In all… I'm going to get emotional," Ballas said.

"In all my time on Strictly, I have never seen a pair of legs work like that. Every close in place, every forward walk turning, just an absolute perfect routine for me. Your choreography was stunning. The temperature between the two of you was portrayed beautifully. May I give the queen a kiss? That was fantastic."

Co-host Tess Daly was left in awe, telling the audience: "That's never happened before in Strictly history," before a second judge, Anton du Beke, followed suit and walked over to Kingston and Radebe.

Ending the night on a high, the dancing duo received an admirable score of 36, with Ballas granting them a perfect 10. "We have never ever had a 10 for a rumba in week four," declared co-host Claudia Winkleman.

Topping week four's leaderboard, Kingston and Radebe were left reeling from the judges' response. Taking to Instagram after the show, Kingston shared a photo from the ballroom, writing: "Still in complete shock! I'll be rumba-ing the night away… Voting is now officially open."

For those in need of a scoreboard recap, Kingston and Radebe snagged the top spot, just two points ahead of Lewis Cope and Katya Jones, who came in second with a 34 for their foxtrot to 'L-O-V-E' by Nat King Cole.

Awarded a score of 33, Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin came in third thanks to their stunning Argentine tango to 'Angel Of My Dreams' by Jade.

At the other end of the leaderboard, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Karen Hauer, Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova, and La Voix and Aljaž Škorjanec found themselves in the bottom three.

Following Sunday's results show, Kingston and Radebe will next perform in the Icons Special, which will commence on Saturday 25 October.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
