Strictly Come Dancing star and YouTuber Saffron Barker has revealed that she was robbed and had to undergo emergency surgery in the last week.

The social media personality competed in the 2019 season of the BBC reality show alongside professional dance partner AJ Pritchard, and they finished in sixth place in the competition.

Over the weekend, Saffron – who has been in Los Angeles – uploaded an Instagram Story of herself sitting in a chair looking glum while holding a plush toy of Remy from Disney and Pixar's Ratatouille.

She wrote: "In the last week, [I've] been in hospital, had emergency surgery, got my rental car completely smashed up and every single thing I own stolen including my passport, so [can't] get home".

Saffron later shared an inspirational quote that read: "You've made it through things you once thought would break you. Don't forget to give yourself credit for that. You're stronger than you know, and there's more softness, more joy, and more magic ahead. Keep going."

Back in October, the star had a health scare after a trip to the Maldives.

She shared that doctors initially "thought I had caught a tropical disease from a mosquito when I was away as I had all the symptoms", before it turned out to be a nasty infection.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One and iPlayer, with the professional line-up already confirmed.
