Married at First Sight Australia fans have reacted to a groom's wedding dance accident, with one declaring it the "funniest thing I've seen in years".

Tonight's episode saw two couples meet and marry at first sight – Morena and Tony, and Ryan and Jacqui – with the latter couple's first dance striking a chord with viewers online.

As Ryan twirled Jacqui around the dance floor, he warned his bride that he was about to romantically "dip her", with Jacqui replying: "You're going to have to catch me though".

Ryan proceeded to dip his bride, but got his feet caught in her wedding gown, causing them both to fall on the ground.

Ryan and Jacqui's wedding guests burst into laughter, with some applauding the moment and others jokingly covering their eyes.

Ryan apologised to Jacqui, who appeared to find the funny side to the moment, but groom Ryan did not, asking producers to cut the moment from the show.

"Can we discuss afterwards potentially leaving that part out," he told one producer. "My friends didn't come here to see me drop my wife. I'm not thinking of myself here, I'm thinking of her."

In a separate piece to camera, he added: "When I think about how many people are going to see it, I feel really worried.

"I need to have a discussion with production about preserving that woman's dignity because that was not right. I'll be the first groom in the history of the show to drop his bride."

Viewers reacted to Ryan's dance fail online, with one user tweeting: "Ryan dropping Jacqui has got to be the funniest thing I've seen in years."

"It’s not that deep Ryan. It was funny, you’re over thinking it," wrote another fan, while one tweeted: "What Ryan is feeling is severe embarrassment."

One MAFS Australia viewer found it more amusing that producers had kept the dance moment in along with Ryan's subsequent requests to remove it.

"It’s absolutely fantastic that not only have production not removed him dropping his wife, they’ve left in him begging for it to be cut," tweeted another user with a laughing face emoji.

The episode ended with confirmation that the first dinner party is set to follow – will Ryan's dance blunder be a topic of discussion on the night?
