Britain's Got Talent returned to screens in spectacular fashion as two acts received Golden Buzzers.

The ITV reality show kicked off its 18th season on Saturday (February 22), with the latest set of hopefuls aiming for the life-changing cash prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

In the premiere episode, which saw guest judge KSI make his debut on the show, several acts took to the stage during the audition process, but it was Vinnie McKee and Will Burns who were the stars of the show as they each received a ticket straight to the semi-finals.

Vinnie, a singer hailing from Scotland, wowed the crowd and judging panel with his rendition of The Proclaimers' 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)', with Simon Cowell taking note of the audience chanting "Press the gold".

"You deserved that," said Simon to Vinnie after the stage was covered in gold confetti amidst a standing ovation. "That was an absolutely spectacular version, genuinely. Look [at the crowd] – that's what it's all about."

"I don't even know what to say. Things like that don't happen to people like me," Vinnie told hosts Ant and Dec backstage.

"Things like that happen to people like you when they're that talented," Ant replied.

It wasn't the only golden moment of the night, with comedian and impressionist Will also receiving the buzzer after Ant & Dec decided to take matters into their own hands and do the judges' work for them.

"You were so good – we love you. It was hilarious," said the pair of Will's routine, which included impressions of Cowell, Gogglebox's Craig Cash and Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley. Following the glorious moment, Will remarked that his life had been "changed".

Whilst Vinnie and Will secured a ticket straight to the semi-finals, there was also controversy in the episode as Auzzy Blood shocked the panel and audience with a performance full of nail-biting physical displays.

Whilst Amanda Holden described the routine as "horrifically brilliant", several viewers at home questioned the suitability of the act on a "family-friendly show", with one writing: "Idk how anyone enjoyed this it was absolutely grotesque and unnecessary definitely not suitable for family entertainment."

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
