Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has revealed he had a bit of a "panic" before last weekend's live show.

The comedian and his celebrity partner Dianne Buswell took on a Samba to 'Stayin' Alive' by The Bee Gees for Halloween Week.

Speaking on last night's (October 30) The One Show, Chris admitted that he got in his head beforehand as the couple were on first, which provoked anxiety.

"I didn't like [going first] to be honest... I'm a creature of habit, you know, and my routine for the previous five weeks… when you're not on first you get to have a little practice and then you get to go straight out there and do your dance," he said.

"But when you're on first, you have to be in a queue. You're in a queue waiting to go down the stairs, and when I'm in a queue I have a think, and that's not always a good thing.

"I started having a think through the dance, and as we were about to go on I said to Di, 'Di, how does the beginning of the dance go again?' I had a bit of a panic, didn't I?"

"Yeah, words you don't wanna hear from your celebrity partner," Dianne said.

Chris added: "I overcompensated with enthusiasm and energy and that didn't go down well with the judges."

Last weekend's episode saw Dr Punam Krishan and professional partner Gorka Márquez eliminated after losing the dance-off to Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
