Strictly Come Dancing 2024 cast rumours
Nick Knowles
Who? TV presenter.
According to The Sun, the DIY SOS presenter has signed up for the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The report claims that Nick has been in talks with BBC bosses "for months", and that the TV personality – who took part in ITV's I'm a Celebrity in 2018 – has always loved the BBC dance show.

GK Barry
Who? Social media star.
According to The Sun, Grace Keeling, also known as GK Barry, is 'in advanced talks' to be taking part in the 2024 series of Strictly.
The publication has reported that show bosses believe her huge following would bring a new audience to the dance competition. It wouldn't be the first time that a social media personality had been cast on Strictly, with YouTuber Joe Sugg and influencer Saffron Barker each appearing in previous years.
GK Barry has addressed the rumour of her involvement. During a recent guest spot on Loose Women, the TikTok and podcast star said when asked (via Yahoo): "Last year I was rumoured to go on Celebrity Big Brother. I've also been rumoured to do Celebrity SAS, God forbid.
"So I think I'm rumoured to do a lot of shows, but I do have two left feet, so take that as you will – an underdog. Take however you want that as you will, but I can't dance."
Jill Scott
Who? Former England footballer and TV personality.
Professional dancer Neil Jones has previously put Jill Scott forward as a celebrity partner he'd like to have on the show (via ITV News).
The former Lioness is no stranger to reality television, having previously taken part in I'm a Celebrity in 2022 and ultimately being crowned Queen of the Jungle.
Gino D'Acampo
Who? Famous chef and TV personality.
The This Morning favourite has been rumoured to be joining Strictly before, but it's never come to fruition.
Gino has reportedly previously told the Daily Star (back in 2019) that he had been asked to take part that year, but that he didn't have time for it at that moment (via Radio Times).
Now his name appears to be in the mix of rumoured celebs again, so we'll see if that may have changed for 2024...
Mollie Pearce
Who? Breakout star from The Traitors.
Apparently, the Beeb is keen to sign up one of the cast members of the record-breaking reality show, with show villain Paul, winner Harry and his faithful bestie (also runner-up) Mollie all being speculated about.
The Sun reports that those three are in the running with Strictly bosses, noting that Mollie's inclusion would potentially be a "positive moment of representation" for audiences.
"A lot of parents have reached out to me, their children might have a stoma or a limb difference and they say that seeing me on the TV has helped them so much," Mollie said, after her time on The Traitors had aired.
Hannah Waddingham
Who? Ted Lasso star and all-round icon.
Yes, believe it or not, Hannah Waddingham's name is being linked to the new Strictly cast for the 2024 series.
The actor is reported to have been approached by BBC bosses, according to the Mirror.
She's close friends with judge Anton du Beke, and is supposedly a big fan of the dancing show. The report suggests she's keen, but it's all down to whether or not she could fit it into her schedule.
Clive Myrie
Who? BBC newsreader and presenter.
Perhaps following in the footsteps of the likes of Natasha Kaplinsky and Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Clive Myrie has poked fun at his potential inclusion in the Strictly Come Dancing 2024 lineup.
Sharing a clip from his BBC show Clive Myrie's Caribbean Adventure, where he showed off his moves, he tagged the prime-time dance competition: "What do you say @bbcstrictly? Are my moves up to par?"
And during a recent appearance on Morning Live, Clive was quizzed on the rumour that he may have signed up.
"I don't know," Clive teased. "Who knows, maybe one day."
It's worth noting that Clive has previously been approached to take part, but has always turned it down (according to The Sun). Perhaps he'll change his mind this year...
Sophie Morgan
Who? TV presenter.
Sophie Morgan, who is part of the Loose Women team and who fronts coverage of the Paralympics for Channel 4, was rumoured to be part of the Strictly cast last year. This didn't come to fruition, but there's always this year...
Speaking to Radio Times in July 2024, Sophie said in response to rumours she could take part: "Sure. It's not something that intimidates me, but I don't know, is it a level playing field with a wheelchair user and people who have got the use of their legs?
"I'm not sure how you would you judge that competition fairly. If they could figure that out then I'd say do it, but otherwise it might feel slightly tokenistic."
Sophie added that the participation of Ellie Simmonds, JJ Chalmers and 2021 champion Rose-Ayling Ellis "reminds me of what can happen when you give disabled people a space and a voice, look what we can do with that. But it should be an industry standard."
Perri Kiely
Who? Diversity dance member, TV and radio presenter.
Having won Britain's Got Talent back in 2009 and placing second on Dancing on Ice in 2019, Perri's name has been put forward as a possible Strictly signing in recent years.
Responding to the rumour that he might land himself a spot in the BBC dance show lineup, Perri told Digital Spy that people would probably accuse him of having an "unfair advantage".
"People thought I was cheating on Dancing on Ice, let alone Strictly Come Dancing," he said.
Munroe Bergdorf
Who? Model, author and activist.
Munroe Bergdorf once said that she would love to do the BBC show and, what's more, it would be the only reality show she'd be interested in taking part in.
"I've always said that Strictly is the only one that I've got a desire to do," she told the Make It Reign podcast in 2021.
Munroe hinted that the time wasn't quite right at that point but, if she were to join the cast of Strictly 2024, it would make history as she'd be the show's first ever trans celebrity. We're here for it.
Perrie Edwards
Who? Singer from Little Mix.
Perrie Edwards sort of put herself forward for Strictly consideration during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show earlier this year.
While she admitted she would be "really scared", Perrie also revealed that she would be up for taking part.
"In the band at the very beginning, we went to rehearsals and I remember crying my eyes out and I went to my manager, 'I'm going to have to leave the band. I can't really dance, I don't want to dance'.
"I was just so terrified and uncomfortable dancing that I just didn't want to do it – I just wanted to stand and sing...
"Now, I love it. I absolutely love dancing. I actually would love it [Strictly Come Dancing]."
Hear that, Beeb?
Chris McCausland
Who? Comedian.
The Sun reports that Strictly has signed comedian Chris McCausland for the 2024 series, making history as the show's first-ever blind celebrity contestant.
The publication claims that bosses are "delighted" to have Chris – who has also previously starred on CBeebies – on board, but it's worth noting that it's still speculation at this point because nothing is confirmed by the BBC until the cast announcements are officially made.
Sure enough, Chris remained coy about the rumour during a recent appearance on The One Show, when host Alex Jones asked Chris if he could say anything about the rumours going around.
"Are there [rumours]? I haven't seen the papers," he joked.
Dame Laura Kenny
Who? Olympic medal winner.
Now she has retired from cycling, word is that the BBC is hoping to get Dame Laura Kenny on the dance floor.
The Mirror reports that Laura has been branded the "ultimate signing" for Strictly, and that the nation will love her.
Shona McGarty
Who? EastEnders star.
There's always a soap star or two on Strictly Come Dancing, and Shona is no stranger to the rumoured list.
Shona previously revealed that she had turned down a stint on the BBC dance show due to her anxiety.
"I've always wanted to do [Strictly]," she told Best magazine in 2021 (via Yahoo!).
"I was asked a few years ago to go on the show. But my anxiety got the better of me and I thought I would be too nervous to do a live show."
But she also went on to speak about her love of dancing, adding: "I love the costumes, and it's such an iconic show."
It's now been reported, via The Mirror, that the soap star is in talks to potentially take part once again.
Well, she's officially now left her Walford character Whitney behind, so this could be the right time for her.
Tom Malone Jr
Who? Former Gogglebox star.
Tom left the popular Channel 4 show in 2021, and has since shared that he would be open to taking part in the BBC show if given the chance.
"If the opportunity came up to go on Strictly as a contestant, I've never done Ballroom in my life, so it'd be interesting to see how as someone who breaks," he reportedly told the Express.
Strictly Come Dancing 2024 professional dancers
The BBC confirmed in June which of the dancing pros will be back for the 2024 series – with the full list revealing that Giovanni Pernice will not be returning. It was later confirmed on July 13 that Graziano di Prima will not return.
There are no new dancers in the mix, but we also had confirmation that the 2024 series will see the return of long-standing cast member Amy Dowden. She had previously taken a break after being diagnosed and receiving treatment for breast cancer, although she still made a celebrated appearance on the 2023 series.
Sharing her excitement to be returning, Amy wrote in an Instagram post: "I'm so happy and grateful to be back on @bbcstrictly MY HEART IS SO HAPPY."
Nikita Kuzmin is also in the mix once again, following his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year. "Can't wait for all the new and exciting things coming upppp," he shared in his own announcement of the news.
Strictly has also confirmed that fan-favourite Aljaž Škorjanec will be returning for the 2024 series.
He said he was "thrilled" during an appearance on The One Show, and went on to share: "It's been a little while now since I've known and I couldn't wait to tell everyone [I was going] back."
Following the news, Strictly executive producer Sarah James echoed how "thrilled" everyone is to have him back in the ballroom.
"During his nine series, he was a firm favourite with viewers across the country," Sarah also said. "I'm sure everyone is in for a treat as he joins us to entertain the nation for a very special 20th year of the show."
The full 2024 pro dancer list is:
- Dianne Buswell
- Nadiya Bychkova
- Vito Coppola

- Karen Hauer
- Katya Jones
- Neil Jones
- Nikita Kuzmin

Strictly Come Dancing 2024 judges
It has also been officially confirmed that the same judging line-up will be returning for the new 2024 series – which is also celebrating two decades of dancing.
The panel will once again comprise of Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton du Beke.
When will Strictly Come Dancing 2024 be back?
The release date for the brand new series of Strictly hasn't been announced just yet. However, we do know that it will be back in its usual September slot.
"This year Strictly marks two decades of entertaining the nation and we will be back with a bang in September as we celebrate in style with our incredible team both on and off screen," said the show's executive producer Sarah James.
If you wanted to get more specific, our best guess would place the launch show on either September 21 or September 28, based on patterns from more recent years – but this is just speculation at this stage.
Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
