Remember back in January when "toxic mom group" was the phrase on everyone's lips? It all started after former High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale published a now-viral essay about leaving her "toxic mom group".
Now Deadline reports that Tisdale's mom drama is being developed into a series by Netflix, with the actress working on the project alongside, Sabrina Jalees, and Beef's Ali Wong.
Tisdale is also expected to star in the series which is being described as a "a dark half-hour comedy." Jalees is writing the script with Deadline adding that Wong may direct if the comedy goes to series.

Toxic Moms will follow "a sleep-deprived new mom who’s drawn into a clique of cool, wealthy mothers. But when the group reveals its darker side, the series asks: in the isolation of motherhood, how far would you go to taste community?"
Sharing Deadline's article on her Instagram, the star wrote: "I guess we all can be a little toxic."
Tisdale's essay Breaking Up with My Toxic Mom Group was published by The Cut at the start of this year and caused immediate buzz online, with readers trying to work out which other celebs may be part of the group.

In the essay, Tisdale wrote about being brought into a group of new moms, many of whom had been pregnant through the pandemic and missed out on social situations where you could meet other expectant mothers.
While the group initially felt supportive, soon Tisdale noticed she was being left out of some group meet-ups and began to feel like she had been frozen out by the other women.
Eventually Tisdale left the group, telling them "this is too high school for me and I don’t want to take part in it anymore," in a text.

In February Deadline reported that Tisdale is currently developing a new sitcom with CBS titled You’re Only Young Twice.
The sitcom will follow high school sweethearts Emily and Alex who get a second chance to start all over again when their kid goes off to college and they divorce.
"Newly divorced empty-nesters, they stumble through dating, co-parenting, and maybe a second chance at love," the series synopsis adds.
