Netflix is adding BBC drama The Bombing of Pan Am 103 to its collection next month. The streaming service has announced that the six-part drama will be available to watch from 30 July.

The drama is based on the devastating true story of the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 disaster, also known as the Lockerbie bombing. It originally aired on BBC One in May of last year.

The series' synopsis reads: "On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 270 people. What followed was the largest murder investigation in the history of Scottish policing, into the deadliest act of terrorism on British soil.

The Bombing of Pan Am 103 received positive reviews from critics after airing on BBC One last year.

The Times said of the series: "You can see that this is a sober and respectful telling of an extremely complex atrocity and the magnificent response of the local community."

While the Financial Times wrote: "If procedural approach can feel pedestrian at times, it is partly justified by the logistical and geopolitical complexity of the catastrophe."

The Bombing of Pan Am 103 is streaming on Netflix from 30 July.
