The BBC audio drama Central Intelligence is coming back a third season soon, and has announced some exciting cast additions joining Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall.

The spy thriller tells the story of the CIA, focusing on Eloise Page, the Agency's first female officer who was there from the very day it was formed and worked there for over 40 years. As one of the organisation's most powerful women, she was known as the 'Iron Butterfly' for her ability to be fierce and steely when needed.

Season 3 kicks off in 1964 with the assassination of President Kennedy, and goes into the tenure of President Johnson, when America got involved in the Vietnam war, public sentiment started to turn, and communism started to rise.

In order to fight back, the CIA delves into the world of covert surveillance, starts employing the use of satellite technology, and launches a multi-million dollar plan to spy on people using cats with radios sewn into their ears (yes, really).

Joining regular cast members Cattrall and Johnny Flynn (Operation Mincemeat), we've got British TV favourite Jason Watkins (McDonald & Dodds, The Crown) and American stars David Duchovny (The X Files) and Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser).

What to Read Next

Duchovny is playing William 'Bill' Colby, who rose up through the CIA ranks in this decade and was heavily involved in Vietnam operations, going on to become the Director of Central Intelligence in the 1970s.

Grammer plays President Johnson, while Watkins is playing British diplomat and politician David Ormsby-Gore, who played a major role in the Cuban missile crisis and was heavily rumoured to have had a romance with Jackie Kennedy following her husband's death.
