Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies has shared an update about the BBC show after recent rumours claimed that the upcoming Christmas special has been pushed back to Easter.
The latest episode aired one year ago yesterday (31 May), and saw Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor regenerate into an unnamed character played by Billie Piper, who previously played Rose Tyler.
Last October saw a Christmas special announced for this year, with Davies on writing duties, but we've heard nothing since then.

That led to the rumours about the Easter delay, with the BBC declining to comment on things not helping matters in the minds of fans.
But now Davies has shared a new update, which is that an actual update will be arriving this month.

"You will get an announcement," Davies said on BBC Radio 2. "There's a press release lumbering through the BBC, which, as you know, is like the Jurassic period. And 57 people have to sign off on every single word.
"So I promise you in about, oh, a week or two weeks, there'll be some sort of press release, and yet I can hear the gears slowing down, even as I say that."

While we don't know what the announcement is, the fact that the Christmas Special hasn't begun filming yet isn't necessarily a cause for concern.
Case in point, the 2016 Christmas Special 'The Return of Doctor Mysterio' didn't commence filming until early September, meaning there was only a few months to turn around the special effects and final edit.
Meanwhile, Davies' new show Tip Toe has premiered on Channel 4, and follows up from Queer as Folk, Cucumber and Banana as an exploration of LGBTQ+ life in Manchester. We like it a lot.
Doctor Who may return to BBC One and iPlayer at Christmas.
