ITV has cancelled Coldwater after just one season. Starring The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln in the lead role, the thriller series debuted in September and consisted of six episodes overall.
In a statement provided to Digital Spy, the broadcaster said: "We're hugely proud of Coldwater and everyone involved in making it. While there are no plans for a further series, we loved bringing this story to screen."
Coldwater, which was written by David Ireland, boasted a stacked cast, with Eve Myles, Indira Varma, Ewen Bremner, Samuel Bottomley, Abigail Lawrie and Sanjeev Kohli appearing in supporting roles.

The story focused on John (Lincoln), a middle-aged man attempting to rebuild his life in rural Scotland after a traumatic incident in London. But his quiet new life doesn't go to plan, thanks to his neighbours harbouring dark secrets.
The series received mixed reviews from critics, with iNews describing it as "simply dreadful," adding: "I am unsure if the Scotland-set series is pulling an elaborate joke. It can't be this dreadful on purpose, surely? Is there a punchline I'm not getting?"

The Independent wrote: "At the heart of the problem is a failure, once again, to create compelling, plausible characters... It's an issue with low-attention span TV in general, which demands that audiences are thrown straight into the action."
Some reviewers were much kinder, however, with Collider writing: "Between the characters and the atmosphere, it's hard not to get sucked into the creepy whirlwind of murder and mayhem that resides in this seemingly quaint town."

RadioTimes echoed this sentiment, writing: "Coldwater is the kind of thriller that keeps you in a chokehold from the opening moments of the first episode, and refuses to let go until the end. By the end, you'll be left struggling to breathe."
On IMDb, the thriller series has a solid user rating of 6.2/10 from 3600 logs, with one user dubbing it "exciting enough" in a 7/10 review. Likewise, another viewer said that they "thoroughly enjoyed" the series.
