Australian crime drama Savage River has landed a new UK streaming home. The "engrossing" show first debuted in its native country nearly four years ago, and follows an ex-con who returns to her hometown.

However, Miki Anderson's (played by Knives Out's Katherine Langford) "hope for a quiet new beginning is shattered when a shocking murder rocks the close-knit community".

"As the town’s suspicion falls squarely on her, Miki is forced to delve into Savage River’s long-buried secrets to clear her name, discovering that the truth is far more dangerous than the past she left behind," the synopsis adds.

Meanwhile, a fourth labelled it a "fantastic series", praising it as a "brilliantly paced crime/drama with an incredible cast to back it up".

"From the outset, the plot line found a grounded feel, and escalated in a suspenseful, subversive manner," they added. "The cinematography was stunning and shots pretty laconic. The soundscape behind it was charming no doubt."

Savage River is directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, who helmed the Kate Winslet-starring The Dressmaker, and is written by The Last Anniversary's Giula Sandler, alongside Belinda Bradley and Franz Docherty.

Savage River will stream from 12 April on ITVX in the UK.
