Mr & Mrs Smith has been given an exciting update on its next season nearly two years after the first debuted. The action series, inspired by the 2005 film, featured Donald Glover and May Erskine as the central pair in season 1, with the former co-creating the show.
While they aren’t expected to come back for season 2, Glover is still reportedly involved behind-the-scenes, with Anora's Mark Eydelshteyn and Yellowjackets' Sophie Thatcher previously confirmed as playing a new titular duo.
It has now been revealed that a big creative change has taken place, with Severance's Anna Ouyang Moench taking over as showrunner from co-creator Francesca Sloane, who oversaw the first run.
It comes amid reported issues over Sloane's overall Amazon MGM deal coming to an end, with some of season 2 already written before the pause. The season is expected to begin filming in the coming months, with Eydelshteyn and Thatcher still attached pending on availability.
Lily-Rose Depp, Francesca Scorsese, Levon Hawke, Wagner Moura and Gael Garcia Bernal were also reportedly approached for guest roles under the last showrunner, though it is unclear whether they are still in the frame.
