Murdoch Mysteries – Canada’s longest-running one-hour scripted drama – hasn't made it to 19 series by just phoning it in. And the news series is finally available to view in the UK.

Fans have called it "an absolute gem" and "excellent" with good reason. Based on the characters from the Detective Murdoch novels by Maureen Jennings, the show has been on screen since 2008 and follows Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) as he combats crime in the early 1900s in Canada. Quite the maverick, he's earned his reputation as Canada’s go-to investigator by using cutting-edge methods like fingerprinting. How modern!

Here’s everything you need to know about Murdoch Mysteries, including the plot, cast and how to watch it.
