The BBC has released a first look at upcoming drams Babies, starring Siobhán Cullen and Paapa Essiedu as a couple navigating multiple pregnancy losses. Billed as a "powerful love story", this one could be popular with viewers.
Announced in November 2024, the series will purportedly tell a "crucial" story with its "incredible" cast, with the action following Lisa (Cullen) and Stephen (Essiedu) as they are faced with multiple miscarriages as they're trying for a baby.
"While confronting unimaginable grief, their bond shines through with humour, warmth and unwavering love," teases the synopsis for the six-part series.
In one of the two first-look images, Lisa and Stephen appear apprehensive as they wait in a hospital corridor, while in another image the pair ride the bus at night as they happily chat away.
The series also features The Peripheral's Charlotte Riley and Pennyworth star Jack Bannon as Amanda and Dave, a new couple with their own challenges that could test their compatibility.

Their complex relationship, set against the backdrop of Lisa and Stephen's ongoing pregnancy journey, is set to "expose the cracks in Stephen and Dave's long-standing friendship".
Babies is created, written and directed by two-time BAFTA winner Stefan Golaszewski, who has won acclaim for series such as Him & Her, Mum and Marriage.
About their latest project, Golaszewski said: "Paapa, Siobhán, Jack and Charlotte are all incredible actors. Their warmth, detail and deep humanity are essential to telling this crucial story that's never told."
Ruth Kenley-Letts, the executive producer for Snowed-In Productions behind Babies, said: "The emotional truth of Stefan's writing is exceptional. I am so excited to be playing a small part in bringing Stefan's compelling story of love and hope to the screen."

"Babies has everything we love about Stefan Golaszewski's work - a tender, authentic, emotional and human look at couples navigating a time in their lives that is rarely covered on television," added Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama.
"It's no surprise that this very special series has attracted such an outstanding cast, and it's been an honour to see them bring Stefan's scripts to life," they continued.
Babies will air on BBC and BBC iPlayer.
