Jill Halfpenny's upcoming thriller Girl Taken has landed a release date for early next year alongside a first look. Originally titled Baby Doll, the "gripping" series is based on a book by author Hollie Overton.
Streamer Paramount+ has now confirmed that all six episodes of the show will premiere on 8 January, 2026 worldwide – and you can take a look at some first-look stills, including Halfpenny and fellow star Alfie Allen, below.
Adapted by The Ex-Wife's David Turpin, Good Ship Murder's Suzanne Cowie and Grantchester's Nessah Muthy, the story centres on the abduction of twins Lily and Abby (Tallulah and Delphi Evans) by teacher Rick Hansen (Allen) in an English rural town.
"After years of abuse in captivity, Lily escapes – only to discover that freedom brings its own challenges," the synopsis continues. "The world she longed to return to has moved on without her.
"As Abby, Lily and their mother Eve struggle to rebuild their family, they must confront the lasting damage and the terrifying reality that Rick is still out there, determined to control the narrative and evade justice."

Executive producer Suzi McIntosh previously teased that the series' "dark psychological storytelling full of twists and turns" kept them "on the edge of our seats throughout".
The original Overton book was called "a compulsive read" by The New York Times (via Amazon), who added: "A brilliant first novel that kept me transfixed and entertained until the very last page."
Glamour (South Africa) further called it "a gripping page-turner that will make you think about what it means to be free".
Girl Taken will premiere on Paramount+ on 8 January, 2026.
