Marbella, the Spanish crime drama starring Hugo Silva (Top Boy), is now available to stream via Channel 4. Comprised of six episodes, the series follows César (Silva), a "hedonistic lawyer" who finds himself in over his head after working with criminal gangs in the Costa del Sol.
"Under Marbella's glamour lurks a shadowy hub of organised crime," teases the synopsis. "César, a brilliant but morally flexible lawyer, represents minor criminals and resents his rival, top lawyer Carlos Setién.
"When Yassim, a ruthless capo of the Mocro Mafia arrives to set up a new drugs route, César sees his chance and take him on as a client, helping him infiltrate the docks, but his actions will force Cesar to break his own rules - crossing into active crime and making dangerous enemies."
Rounding out the cast, Fernando Cayo (Money Heist), Elvira Mínguez (Everybody Knows), and Ana Isabelle (West Side Story), also star.
Revealing his inspiration for the series, director Dani de la Torre (Retribution, Gun City), told Variety that he had a lightbulb moment after reading an article about Marbella's transformation into a playground for various criminal organisations.

"Every day, news stories are coming out about the Marbella gangs, but these organizations have so much money that it makes it very difficult for the police to properly fight against them. What you have now is a special ecosystem in Marbella, with non-stop parties and bottles of whisky costing two thousand euros… The mafia turned the whole of Marbella into their headquarters," de la Torre explained.
"There are few killings in Marbella because it's bad for business," he added. "It's not like Mexico or the U.S. There is no place like it in Spain or elsewhere. It amounted to a fascinating story to make a series about."
Following Marbella's initial release in 2024, fans and critics have shared their thoughts on the series. Taking to IMDb, one viewer described it as a "Narcos-Spaniard-Marbella world", noting: "Marbella is an interesting product. Not original and full of clichés, but still entertaining."
Echoing this sentiment, executive producer Fran Araújo added, "We wanted to continue working with Dani, of course, but also to do something different. The show is funny and incredibly entertaining, going higher and higher with every episode."
Marbella is now available to stream via Channel 4.
