I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here! and Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has been widely praised for sharing her sobriety journey on tonight's episode of the show. The actress revealed that it was the death of her mother in 2012 that left her turning to alcohol in order to "cope", and now she is "full cold turkey".

Speaking to campmates including Jack Osbourne, Aitch and Angry Ginge, she said she previously consumed "three bottles of Malbec every night" before making a change and giving it up altogether.

"Loved this so brave of her to open up," read one of many supportive comments under a clip of the moment on Instagram, with another saying: "The more Lisa speak [sic] out about her life/past the more I love her honesty."

On Facebook, someone else said: "Lisa is brilliant, I feel she is getting so much from this experience and it's helping her and others talk about addiction, well done love."

There was also a lot of love for her bond with Osbourne, with one person saying on Instagram: "Jack and Lisa are my fav besties ever". Another posted: "Absolutely love the bond Jack and Lisa have [...] lovely humans."

When Osbourne suggested that "addiction isn't just one thing" and it can often be a "trauma response", the actress said: "When my mum died, it was the biggest plaster I could put on myself. I genuinely could not cope.

"And having to work... and put that 'I'm OK, turn the radio on, everything's great'. But inside I was the biggest broken biscuit in the memory of man.

"I'm not the sort of person who can be fake and turn that on, it's not me."

She added: "I got to the point where I couldn't close my mind off, that constant suffocation. And the wine literally suffocated everything. And two packets of silk cut."

Elsewhere in the episode, Lisa also opened up on her experience of weight loss.

"I’m now a size 16-18, but at my biggest I was a size 28," she said. "My absolute guilt for years and years was blindness to portion control… I’ve completely cut out nibbling."

The discussion was part of a chat around the menopause and body image, which culminated in Ruby Wax leaving viewers in hysterics with a quip about pretending to have herpes to avoid having sex.
