Sky has just dropped a first-look trailer plus new images for Jonathan Pryce's new Wales-set detective drama Under Salt Marsh, described by the broadcaster as "gripping" and scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Yellowstone's Kelly Reilly and Trying's Rafe Spall star alongside Pryce in this series, centred around the "close-knit" fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen that is "fractured by an unspeakable crime".

The synopsis reads: "The six-part series opens as a once-in-a-generation storm rolls in from the sea. Former detective turned teacher Jackie Ellis (Reilly) makes a shocking discovery that reopens the wounds of a three-year-old cold case which cost her both her career and her family's trust.

"Forced to reunite with her estranged police partner Eric Bull (Spall), Jackie is drawn back into an investigation that will shake Morfa Halen to its core.

"Together, they must confront a community haunted by secrets and fractured by grief, before the incoming storm washes away the evidence forever."

CEO of Little Door Elwen Rowlands commented on the thriller, saying (via Deadline): "We are incredibly fortunate to have such a talented cast bringing these characters to life.

"Claire's compelling scripts tell a thrilling story of a community deeply connected with its environment, raw with emotion, and beautifully mirrored by the stunning backdrop of North Wales where the story unfolds."

Fans of Pryce can catch The Crown actor in the recently released fifth season of Apple TV+ series Slow Horses. Of his season five experience in the crime series, Pryce told Town & Country: "I was delighted to return.

"I've been delighted for the entire five seasons. It's one of the best things I've ever been involved in and all the usual things, great scripts, great cast, really good directors who understand how to tell a story."

He added: "Every series is a wonderful accolade to Mick Herron, author of the books, because sometimes they say a good book doesn't make a good film. And that's often the case. But these are good books and a good series."

Under Salt Marsh will premiere on Sky and the streaming service NOW in 2026.
