Who doesn't recall that classic Judy Finnegan moment when Judy jumped on stage, alongside husband Richard Madeley, to accept an award for This Morning back in 2000 (yes, 25 years ago!) when her dress fell down, exposing her bra?

"She basically just had her boobs out," laughed daughter Chloe (now 38 and divorced from England rugby player James Haskell) when asked to recall the moment. "Jack, my brother and I just sat there, open mouthed!"

It's every woman's worst nightmare – never mind the fact that for Judy, her worst nightmare was aired on national TV.

Well, it was a fate narrowly escaped by the presenter of The Vanessa Show moments before she hosted the moving Best Heroes Awards last week (she is also the magazine's agony aunt).

Pulling out her amazing dress from a clear cellophane bag, she realised she had not brought the lace needed to tie up the corset, which gives the dress its amazing hourglass shape.

Thinking quickly, the presenter asked for help from one of the staff, twisting a ribbon from the show's sponsors DFS into a form of string.

"Take a look," she told best's Editor-in-Chief, Siobhan Wykes. "A crisis narrowly averted! Great idea don't you think? You can't tell, especially as I also have a cape, but can you imagine if the string broke?"

"A Judy Finnegan moment, you mean," giggled Siobhan.

Thankfully there was no such moment, and it was no surprise to us that this very clever woman had such a brilliant thought – and a top tip for any lady finding herself in a similar position.

Also at the event was Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford, who accepted an award for her services to cancer charities.

"What an indomitable character she is," said Vanessa. "She has raised so much money for the Caron Keating Foundation in memory of Caron (Gloria's daughter), whom we all remember with such affection."

Loose Women is on ITV daily at 12.30pm. You can see Gloria speaking about her award on ITVX on Monday 20 October's episode.

The Vanessa Show airs weekdays on Channel 5 at 12.30pm.
