Slow Horses fans better brace themselves as the spy drama is returning for a fifth season that looks as explosive as they come, as one of its stars has confirmed.
The acclaimed Apple TV+ series is back in just two days, bringing us back to Slough House together with the gang of MI5 outcasts led by Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb.
Joining the starry cast, also including Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving, is Taskmaster and Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed. He's set to make his Slow Horses debut in season five as Zahar Jaffrey, the mayor of London.
Speaking with RadioTimes, Mohammed teased a twisty season five with an "intense" final action sequence.
"I think everyone will appreciate that Slow Horses ends in quite an explosive way and there are lots of twists and turns," he said.
"And this season definitely does do that as well. There's a pretty intense action sequence at the end."

Mohammed was quizzed about his character, with some drawing a possible comparison with the real-life mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. The actor said comparisons were "inevitable" but the character is an "amalgam" of different politicians.

"I think that there will inevitably be people who are drawing comparisons to the current Mayor of London, but [...] this was written a while ago," he said.
"Yes, I guess it is quite sad that some of it feels really current now, but he's not based on one particular person. I think he represents a side of politics, which I guess is left-leaning, but he's by no means without fault."
Going into detail about his character, Mohammed said Jaffrey is "vain" and "grandstands a lot".
"He likes the sound of his own voice, he uses as many things as he can to his own advantage. He tries to score political points," he explained.
"So he's dynamic in that way and he's quite complicated. He's sort of an amalgam of lots of different politicians, really," he concluded, then quipped: "Can you tell I've been briefed?"
Ahead of its season five premiere, which will be followed by a previously announced season six, Slow Horses has been renewed for a seventh round at the streamer.
Slow Horses season 5 starts streaming on Apple TV+ on 24 September. Seasons 1-4 are available on the same platform.
