Season two of Gen V has officially landed on Prime Video. Helmed by Jaz Sinclair, the show, which serves as a spin-off of The Boys, has been hailed as a "dark and twisty" drama (via Autostraddle), while winning widespread acclaim.

Following its return to the streamer last week, Gen V has already landed in Prime's TV charts, snagging the number three spot.

According to an official synopsis: "In the second season of Gen V, the acclaimed spinoff series set in the Emmy Award-winning world of The Boys, school is back in session."

"As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss.

"But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realise. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it."

What to Read Next

Already a hit, season two has landed a Certified Fresh rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Lauding the series, Empire Magazine wrote: "Gen V has levelled up for season two thanks to its ability to balance the franchise's signature cartoonish graphic grossness with three-dimensional character work. Forget Compound V – inject another five seasons of this straight into our veins."

Meanwhile, the Guardian mused: "Gen V is aware of its own limited relevance in the grand scheme of things but has embraced its small role with pluck and charm."

"It could all read as cliché and overly self-referential, but the show carries it all off with just the right amount of swagger and attitude. God U is just as awful as ever; thank goodness for that," wrote the London Evening Standard.

When season one first aired in 2023, Gen V scored 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. "The series serves up a raucous blend of humour, action, and emotional storytelling," wrote Slant Magazine.

Echoing this sentiment, the Los Angeles Times described Gen V as "a sharp, snarky commentary on the billion-dollar business of hero worship. And yes, it's just as irreverent and crass as its fearless predecessor."

Season two of Gen V is currently airing on Prime Video, with new episodes landing on Wednesdays.
