The action-packed first trailer for Slow Horses season 5 has been released.

The upcoming episodes of the hit Apple TV+ spy show see Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden return as everyone's favourite disgraced agents, with the season due to premiere later this month.

A first proper look has now dropped, showing Slough House put in lockdown by Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) after an attack in which 11 people were killed.

The events appear linked to Roddy Ho's (Christopher Chung) new girlfriend as the hacking wiz is taken into the Park, while Jackson Lamb (Oldman) suspects a "destabilisation strategy" by MI5.

There's also a tease of "sinister forces trying to bring down the country" and plenty of action promised as the Slow Horses try to get to the bottom of bizarre events across London.

Viewers also get a glimpse of new cast addition Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) in a guest role.

Season 5 is based on Mick Herron's London Rules from his Slough House series of novels, and is one of several chapters of the show on the way, as the series has been renewed all the way up to season 7.

"Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humour and high-octane action," Apple TV+'s creative director, Europe, Jay Hunt, previously said.

"I'm delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary's magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses' slightly inept spycraft."

However, from season 6 onwards the show will be getting a big change behind the scenes, with showrunner Will Smith stepping away from his role.

"Series 5, it doesn’t end things by any means," he told Deadline. "But it concludes certain story arcs that started in season 1, so it felt like a good moment to hand over the show."

Slow Horses season five will premiere on Apple TV+ on 24 September.
