The Manchester-set spin-off to The Split has shared some new details following its previous delay.
It was confirmed in February 2024 that BBC's popular legal drama would be getting a spin-off series in the shape of The Split Up, a six-part show which follows a family of legal experts in Manchester.
After production was paused in September 2024 due to "editorial reasons", it was reported in April that work had resumed on the spin-off, with filming set to begin in October ahead of a 2026 release.
While we still have no concrete release details, writer Kaamil Shah teased elements of the upcoming legal drama in an interview with RadioTimes.com, confirming that it would have a full staff of British Asian writers.
"It's with a new family of British Asian divorce lawyers in Manchester," they said. "[It's] very exciting to be working on that with an excellent showrunner, Ursula Rani Sarma. It's doing something very different with British Asians on screen.

"I think it's really sexy. I'm really proud to be working on a show that's genuinely got heart-stopping moments of British Asians being messy, having relationship dramas, affairs and all of these fun things."
Shah, who is joined in the writing team by Sonali Bhattacharyya and Sumerah Srivastav, added that Abi Morgan – the creator and showrunner for the main series – had been involved in the spin-off's production, with the writer calling her "generous".
The Split Up will follow the Kishans as they manage their law firm in the north of England, with the synopsis describing the company as the "go-to" for the city's elite due to their "excellence, integrity and discretion".
"But the future and legacy of Kishan Law hangs in the balance when a family secret from the past comes to light, throwing their professional and personal lives into turmoil," reads the logline.

The Split, which premiered in 2018, followed Nicola Walker's Hannah Defoe in her career as a divorce lawyer, with the supporting cast including Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button and Annabel Scholey.
Following three successful seasons, a two-part special – titled The Split: Barcelona – aired last year, with the majority of the cast reprising their roles. The future of the main series is currently up in the air, though Walker did indicate that more specials would be on the way.
The Split airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer. The Split Up has no release date.
