The BBC's "groundbreaking" returning '90s series Walking With Dinosaurs has confirmed a premiere date.

The reboot of the classic show will once again use cutting edge CGI technology to bring a number of dinosaurs to life on screen.

The broadcaster has now revealed when viewers will be able to watch the revival, with the first episode set to premiere on Sunday, 25 May at 6.25pm on BBC One, while the whole series will drop in one go on BBC iPlayer.

The show will focus on the stories of six dinos, including the Spinosaurus, Albertosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus, with "state-of-the-art visual effects" used to bring them to life.

Fans will also gain insight into "how these prehistoric creatures lived, hunted, fought and died more accurately than ever before", with a recent trailer teasing what to expect.

The Crown's Bertie Carvel was recently confirmed to be narrating the six-part series, taking over from original series narrator Kenneth Branagh.

Speaking about the series, Carvel said: "I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this exciting new reimagining of Walking With Dinosaurs.

BBC Studios Science Unit executive producer Andrew Cohen further teased that the series will be "ambitious, entertaining, factual television that will have audiences having their hearts in their mouth one moment and their minds blown the next".

Walking With Dinosaurs will premiere on Sunday, 25 May at 6.25pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, where it will be available in full.
