A Good Morning Britain reunion turned a little awkward when returning pundit Piers Morgan asked host Susanna Reid for a hug.

Morgan appeared on the morning show to discuss US President Donald Trump's recent meeting with President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Before Morgan, Reid and her co-presenter Ed Balls chatted international politics, Morgan, who co-hosted GMB until 2021, pointed out he hadn't been on the show in a while.

"Hang on, are we just going to ignore the fact that I haven't been here in 1,453 days?!" he told Reid and Balls.

Morgan then proceeded to ask Reid for a hug, to which she replied: "No, what?! No, no, I don't want a hug."

Despite Reid's protestations, Morgan went in for a hug anyway. Balls then offered to hug Morgan, and the two men shared a long embrace as Reid chuckled on the sofa.

"You've moved on so fast!" Morgan told Reid jokingly, with the presenter replying: "I've got a couple of new husbands now."

Shortly after, Balls confirmed that Reid isn't too fond of unprompted physical touch, saying she doesn't hug him either.

"No, I don't do hugs, as you know," she replied.

Reid and Morgan co-presented Good Morning Britain between 2015 and 2021. In March 2021, Morgan exited the show following huge backlash over his criticism of an interview that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did with Oprah Winfrey.

From 2022, Morgan has been hosting Piers Morgan Uncensored, a talk show originally on TalkTV in the UK and now on YouTube.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV.
