A Thousand Blows, a violent new boxing drama from the creator of Peaky Blinders, stars Stephen Graham – and it's streaming now on Disney+.

The six-episode series from Steven Knight is about the underground world of bare-knuckle boxing in the East End of London during the 1800s.

A Thousand Blows follows two best friends from Jamaica who are thrust into the criminal underbelly of London's boxing scene to survive when they arrive in the city.

As they rise up the ranks, it's not long before Hezekiah (Malachi Kirby) and Alec (Francis Lovehall) become targets of the violent Henry 'Sugar' Goodson (Graham), self-appointed boss of the illegal fighting scene.

Alongside Graham, Kirby, Doherty and Lovehall, A Thousand Blows also stars Wonka and Murder in Successville's Tom Davis and Fast & Furious 9's Jason Tobin.

James Nelson-Joyce, Darci Shaw, Ziggy Heath, Nadia Albina, Jemma Carlton and Caoilfhionn Dunne are also part of the ensemble cast.

The period drama is inspired by historical events – the Forty Elephants gang was a real-life, all-women crime syndicate based in south London during the Victorian London era in which the show is set.

Knight has already confirmed that a second series of A Thousand Blows is also on the way, with the underground boxing drama being renewed before its first episode had even aired.
