The Doctor Who episode featuring Huw Edwards has returned to BBC iPlayer after it was taken off the streaming service last year.

The season two episode, titled 'Fear Her', included a cameo from the former BBC newsreader, and was removed after Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children.

The scene saw Edwards appearing as himself as he presented the BBC News, reporting on the events in the episode. According to Radio Times, the episode has now been re-dubbed and re-uploaded to the BBC iPlayer, with actor Becky Wright replacing Edwards' role.

The removal of Edwards has not impacted the main storyline of the 2006 episode, although some of the dialogue has been changed.

In the original narration, Edwards reported: "My God, what's going on here? The crowd has just vanished, right in front of my eyes. It's impossible. Bob, can we go to you in the box? Bob? Not you, too?"

After the crisis is resolved, he is heard again saying: "They've reappeared! It's quite incredible. And a mystery man, we've no idea who he is, has picked up the flame. It's more than heat and light, it's hope and it's courage and it's love."

Performed by Wright, the lines have been slightly changed to: "My God, what's going on here? The crowd has vanished, they're gone, everyone has gone. Thousands of people have just gone, right in front of my eyes, it's impossible. Bob? Bob, can we join you in the box? Not you too, Bob."

Meanwhile, the remaining dialogue received the biggest tweak: "Just look at this, utterly incredible scenes at the Olympic Stadium. 80,000 athletes and spectators, they disappeared, they've come back. They've returned, they've reappeared. It's quite incredible."

Since returning to BBC iPlayer, the episode now features a disclaimer informing viewers that it has been edited since its broadcast. It concludes: "There are a number of reasons why a programme may have been edited including legal, contractual or technical issues."

Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
