Edwards quit his role at the BBC earlier this year, after 40 years working for the broadcaster.

During that time, he led coverage of major national and international events, including the corporation's coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Announcing the presenter's resignation in April, the BBC confirmed: "Huw Edwards has resigned and left the BBC.

"After 40 years of service, Huw explained that his decision was made on the basis of medical advice... The BBC has accepted his resignation."

Edwards was recently named as one of the BBC's highest earners between April 2023 and March 2024 as the corporation released its annual salary report.

The former BBC News at Ten anchor was the BBC's third-highest-paid star across the year, earning between £475,000 and £479,999 in the period.
