Vera star Brenda Blethyn has teased a possible return for her curmudgeonly character just weeks after the show's finale.
Blethyn, who played no-nonsense DCI Vera Stanhope for 14 seasons, said she'd be open to reprise the role in a future special.
"A special would be nice," she told the Daily Star. "It's definitely one of my favourite roles I've done. I love the character."

Reflecting on not returning to filming in Northern England later this year now the show has wrapped, Blethyn said she will be "sad".
"When we get to March and I'd normally be packing my bag to go up north to film, I will be sad. I will miss it," she said. "I had a great time doing it."

Opening up previously about her decision not to return in the role of Vera, Blethyn said she chose to exit the fan-favourite show so that she can spend more time with her family.
"It was a hard decision and come March when I would normally be getting ready to go back up there, I'll probably be crying," the Pride & Prejudice star reiterated.
"As much as I loved all that, I've got a family at home and I realised I hadn't had a summer for 14 years with my family. So I still did another series because I couldn't drag myself away. But anyway it was time, that's all."
Vera is available to stream on ITVX.
