TV AWARDS

Best Actor

Nicola Coughlan brought depth and charm to Penelope Featherington's long-awaited journey to love in Bridgerton's third season, earning her the win for Best Actor. Kit Connor's moving performance as Nick in Heartstopper resonated with viewers and secured him the number two spot, while Ncuti Gatwa's turn as the Fifteenth Doctor has placed him at number three.

Rounding out the top five are Jessica Gunning for her role as Martha in Netflix's breakout hit Baby Reindeer, and Toby Jones for his portrayal of Alan Bates in ITV's Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which poignantly explored one of the worst miscarriages of justice in British legal history.

British Rising Star

Leading the British Rising Star category is Richard Gadd, who both created and starred in Netflix's critically acclaimed drama Baby Reindeer. Following closely behind is Hannah Dodd, who made a memorable debut as Francesca Bridgerton in the regency drama's third season, while Ella Purnell has bagged the number three spot for her killer performance in Sweetpea.

What to Read Next

Bel Priestley comes in at number four for her role as Naomi in Heartstopper, while Leo Woodall rounds out the top five for his performance as Dexter in Netflix's adaptation of One Day.

Best TV Show (scripted)

Bridgerton secures another win in the awards with Best TV Show, with its third season focusing on the blossoming romance between Penelope and Colin. Heartstopper has claimed second place with its darker yet deeply moving third season, while Agatha All Along cast a spell over viewers and takes the third spot.

House of the Dragon has landed fourth place following the release of its anticipated second season earlier this year, while The Bear rounds out the list at fifth.

Best TV Show (unscripted)

The Traitors has become a staple of British television, earning it the win for Best TV Show (unscripted). I'm a Celebrity recently returned for its 2o24 series and has been placed at second, while Strictly Come Dancing continues to dazzle viewers and comes in at number three.

There's nothing quite like a cosy autumn evening watching Bake Off, which has taken fourth place, while the list is rounded out with Big Brother at fifth.

Best British TV Show

Leading the Best British TV Show (scripted) category is Mr Bates vs The Post Office, while Baby Reindeer has also been a great success and comes in at number two. Netflix's adaptation of Harlen Coben's Fool Me Once gripped viewers with its twisty storyline and takes third.

Rounding out the list are Call the Midwife at fourth, and Channel 4's dark comedy-drama Big Mood at fifth.

Best TV Moment

Mr Bates vs The Post Office shed light on of one of the greatest miscarriage of justice in British legal history, in which hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a defective IT system.

The drama renewed mass public interest in the scandal and led to real-world reforms and justice for the victims. For this, it has been crowned your Best TV Moment of 2024.

Bridgerton's steamy carriage scene between Colin and Penelope was one of the most anticipated moments of season three – it did not disappoint.

Diane's funeral on The Traitors season two is probably one of the most iconic moments to come out of British telly this year, rightly earning it a place in the top five.

In fourth place is the kiss between Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor and Jonathan Groff's mysterious bounty hunter Rogue, whose simmering chemistry throughout the Doctor Who episode 'Rogue' left fans wanting more.

Claiming fifth place is the touching moment in Heartstopper when Charlie receives a video message from his friends while recovering from his eating disorder, adding to the show's already-long list of impactful scenes.

Best TV Character

Penelope Featherington has been crowned the Best TV Character of 2024, officially earning Bridgerton the most wins in the TV awards.

The iconic Claudia Winkleman follows closely behind at second, while Ant and Dec have have taken the number three spot. Graham Norton comes in at fourth and The Chase's Bradley Walsh places fifth.

Most Unfairly Axed Show in 2024

The news that The Boys will be coming to an end with season five was the most heart-wrenching for viewers this year, with The Flight Attendant following closely behind.

Viewers seemed to really take a liking to Prime Video's new period drama My Lady Jane, which serves as a "radical" retelling of English royal history. Alas, shortly after its debut in June, it was confirmed that it won't be returning for another season.

The cancellation of Orphan Black: Echoes after just one season was another controversial axe for viewers, as was Netflix's Greek mythology comedy series KAOS.
