A first look at the second action-packed season of Trigger Point has been released.

The ITV crime series stars Line of Duty's Vicky McClure as ex-military bomb disposal expert Lana Washington, an Afghan war veteran now leading the Metropolitan Police bomb squad.

Season 2 will see Lana and her officers up against a terrorist group targeting London, leaving clues for them to find as they prepare to attack in different locations.

While Lana hasn't returned to active duty yet, she's the closest to the scene of an incident in episode one, but will she be ready to jump in?

What to Read Next

Much like season 1, which premiered in 2022, this upcoming instalment will have officers fighting for their lives as they embark on dangerous missions.

In the trailer, Lana desperately tries to save a colleague's life, urging them to stay still as they'd just stood on a bomb.

Meanwhile, McClure will next be seen in new thriller series Insomnia.

The six-part show stars the Broadchurch actress as Emma, a woman who's approaching her 40th birthday and stops sleeping. Emma is experiencing the same bouts of insomnia her mother had before suffering a violent psychotic break the night of her birthday.

McClure, who also serves as producer on the series, teased "a very different role" ahead of production.

"It's a very different role for me. Sarah Pinborough has written such an exciting script," the star said. "We have a fantastic cast, crew and production team all set for a very fulfilling few months ahead."

Filming for the show wrapped at the end of November, though an exact release date is yet to be announced.

Trigger Point airs on ITV and streams on ITVX in 2024. Insomnia will stream on Paramount+ next year.
