This connected football is set to touch down in the UK

We Brits have already created a bastardised version of Black Friday and made fast food a staple of our diet, so adopting American football is naturally the next step in a complete cultural domination.

When you're done waving around a foam finger and drinking a Budweiser from a hat, though, you may actually consider if you'd be any good at throwing a football.

And thanks to Wilson, there's now a way to do this in the most elaborate way possible.

The sports equipment company has today announced the Wilson X Connected Football, which will allow you to track throwing distance, velocity, spiral efficiency, spin rate and (if you throw it so far out of sight you can't tell) whether it was caught or dropped.

"Our Wilson X Connected Football marries the best in digital technology with the top performing football in the world to create an immersive gaming experience for fans that was not possible before," said Bob Thurman, Vice President of Wilson LABS, the innovation hub at Wilson.

"By embedding a state-of-the-art, undetectable sensor in a football that connects to a cool app on a fan's mobile device, every fan can become their favorite NFL team's quarterback and create their own virtual stadium anywhere, anytime they want to play."

So what do you need to get involved with all this spiralling fun?

Well, since the ball possesses an undetectable sensor, all you need to do is connect via Bluetooth to the dedicated Wilson X Connected Football app.

Then, once you're done tossing the ball around, you'll have access to some nifty analytics which prove how terrible your friends are at hauling in your fades down the sideline.

So if you fancy throwing your shoulder out in the Christmas break, you can pick up the Wilson X Connected Football from the December 19 at Fanatics and Football America for £160.
