A ball of excited nerves for her date with Vic, Melanie confesses to Krista that she's hoping he will be "the one". Having no idea who Melanie is dating, Krista reassures her.
The date gets off to an awkward start, but Melanie and Vic quickly hit their groove and their connection grows… until Jane and Nicolette spring them at The Waterhole.
Realising who Vic really is, Melanie is devastated and when Vic tells her they can't possibly see each other again, Melanie wholeheartedly agrees. But they both have private regrets.

When Jane and Nicolette see Vic at The Waterhole, recriminations fly. Vic insists on waiting for Byron to explain exactly why he's back and the family is thrown when he admits he made a huge mistake abandoning them after he discovered he was in complete remission and wants to earn their forgiveness.
