The finale saw Mike finally get back together with Jane, and it left fans delighted.

Many tuned in to the show after years of not watching it and were hit with a wave of nostalgia, with one person tweeting: "Must be 25 years since I watched, not a clue what is going on, but I had to watch."

Fans also expressed their excitement over Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia's cameos.

But what people seemed really moved by was Susan Kennedy's (Jackie Woodburne) speech at the end, with one fan calling her "one of the greatest actresses to come out of Australia".

Susan had the well-deserved honour of wrapping things up as she wrote her entry into the Ramsay Street history book, leaving fans in tears.

It was a beautiful and emotional send-off fit for a TV soap that has stuck with fans for generations. And it seems viewers will always hold out hope that the world of Erinsborough can be revisited once again in the future.
