Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
There's good news today for fans of Hollyoaks' Lucas Hay – actor Oscar Curtis has finally returned to filming following his extended break, Digital Spy can exclusively reveal.
Oscar has spent much of this year away from the Channel 4 soap's set after his troubled character Lucas received a prison sentence, but it was always the plan for him to stick around as a regular cast member.

Digital Spy understands that Oscar returned to work this week to begin shooting the next chapter for Lucas.
"Lucas will be heading back to the village after being released from jail," our Hollyoaks source explains. "When we last saw him, he was ready to face the consequences of his behaviour after months of violent outbursts, so it'll be interesting to see if he's a changed lad once he's back.
What to Read Next
"Can Lucas make a fresh start with his dad Ste after the horrors of their child-to-parent abuse story, or is there more drama to come? And with long-term boyfriend Dillon gone, where does Lucas's personal life go from here?"
In real life, Oscar went travelling this year as he enjoyed a break from his usually busy soap schedule and kept fans updated on his adventures via his Instagram page.
The actor hasn't appeared on our screens since March, and with the usual gap between filming and transmission, viewers won't see him back on screen for a couple of months yet.

"Oscar has returned refreshed and with plenty of stories from his time away," our insider continues. "He also has a new on-screen family member to get to know, with Charlotte Riley now playing the role of Leah. What will Lucas make of her new outlook on life and relationship with Imran?"
A few weeks ago, Kieron Richardson – who plays Ste – organised a "family meal" for Oscar and Charlotte to meet for the first time ahead of filming any sibling scenes. Jonny Labey (Rex Gallagher) and Kirsty-Leigh Porter (Leela) joined them for the occasion.
"Kieron knew how important it would be for Lucas and Leah to have a familiar chemistry when they were reunited on screen, so felt the meal was a great idea," adds our spy. "There are going to be interesting times ahead for the Hay family in the autumn!"
