Hollyoaks has aired a heartbreaking exit for Charlie Dean as the fate of three more characters is put at risk. In last Wednesday's episode (3 June), Beth Keane came up with a plan to find Charlie, who she was convinced was hiding at the Osborne house following his absence at the car crash court case.

After inviting the Osbornes out to dinner, she sent Maddox in to search for Charlie, who discovered a video game displaying Charlie's name on pause at the house.

When Maddox told Beth, she revealed the discovery and rushed to the Osbornes, where Charlie had locked himself in a room, with Beth threatening to kick the door down if they didn't let her in.

In tonight's episode, a cornered Charlie hid in Frankie's room. As Beth tried to force her way in, Nancy and Darren were forced to admit the truth, telling Beth they had been hiding Charlie.

Darren pleaded with Beth to let him go and speak to Charlie alone first, and she reluctantly agreed. While a family dispute broke out between Imran and Misbah, Darren spotted the keys in Imran's sports car and came up with a plan. He told Charlie to get in, and they sped off.

With nowhere left to run and their family hurting enough, Charlie told Darren he was ready to hand himself in, saying: "We need to do the right thing. As scary as it is, it's time."

They made a deal that if either of them was struggling and couldn't cope, they’d seek the help they needed.

Frankie reached out to Caleb, admitting that she helped Darren hide Charlie because she was worried about her dad and brother. Caleb forgave her, telling her: "I could never hate you. You know that."

Charlie gathered Vicky, Frankie, and Caleb at The Dog's car park and said he was sorry for all of the pain he had caused.

"If I could go back and change all of this, I would. In a heartbeat," he said. "One stupid, mindless action has caused so much pain for you all and I hate myself."

In emotional scenes, his family gathered to say goodbye before the police arrived and took him away in handcuffs.

Not yet satisfied justice has been served, Beth called the police on Frankie, Charlie and Darren for their involvement in the crime and hiding Charlie.

With Beth about to call the police, will Frankie, Darren and Nancy go to prison too?
