Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

It's been a tumultuous few weeks for the McQueens on Hollyoaks, and it looks set to continue as it has been confirmed that Chelsee Healey will take a step back from her role as Goldie. The actor, who has also appeared on Waterloo Road and Casualty, has appeared on the Channel 4 soap since 2016, but her screen-time in recent years has dwindled as the character has largely taken a backseat.

As per The Sun, it has been reported that this stance is set to continue, though Digital Spy understands that it is a scaling back of appearances rather than a permanent exit for the character.

It was also reported that Healey hasn't had a full-time contract with the soap for a few years, which would explain the character's decreased screen-time. Neither Lime Pictures nor the actor have commented on the reports.

It comes amid a big period for one of the soap's biggest families, with David Tag set to reprise his role as Sylver after an absence of four years. As exclusively reported by Digital Spy, Sylver will be involved in the storyline which sees James Sutton's exit as John Paul.

"Sylver is returning as part of the special McQueen episode featuring fantasy scenes," says our Hollyoaks insider. "The episode has a 'What If?' theme, exploring various scenarios which could have changed the course of the McQueens' lives over the years.

"John Paul is questioning his life choices and is asking what could have been different. David filmed some very entertaining scenes with James Sutton, who plays John Paul, and it was great to see him back on set after such a long absence."

In addition to Sylver, it has also been reported that Carmel and Tina will also make comebacks to the soap as part of the special episode, with Gemma Merna and Leah Hackett set to reprise their respective roles.

"There seems to be a theme developing, with many dead McQueens seemingly coming back," said our insider. "Fans will have to wait and see how it all plays out, but a special episode like this is always a great opportunity to bring back some fan favourites."

"Carmel, Tina and Sylver all had dramatic exit plots which saw their characters lose their lives – but now it appears they'll be back where they belong, even if it's only for a brief appearance," they added.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
