Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has spoken about the upcoming Brookside revival episode.

The former soap is coming back for a special crossover with Hollyoaks as part of the latter's 30th anniversary celebrations, with plenty of Brookside stars reprising their roles.

However, it looks like Sweeney won't be one of them.

The actor, who played Lindsey Corkhill and is currently playing Cassie Plummer on Corrie, stated that she's too busy in her current job to be able to take part.

"It's wonderful that it's coming back," she said (via the Daily Star). "But I'm not doing it."

Sweeney added that she was happy to see "such excitement about Brookside coming back", and that she had an emotional moment recently visiting the old set.

"I'm still a big fan of the show. I took my son to the Close a few months ago to show it to him," she continued.

"I got out the car and I started filling up with tears. I was in front of my old house."

Viewers will get to see the famous Close on screen once again, as it was announced last month that filming would take place there.

Some former Hollyoaks stars are also coming back to the soap for the anniversary celebrations, while late-night spin-off Hollyoaks Later is also getting a one-off episode return.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
