Hollyoaks has confirmed a heartbreaking rift between Ste and Lucas Hay, as Rex Gallagher makes his next move.
The soap is currently airing a harrowing exploitation storyline, with Rex and Grace grooming teenagers Dillon and Frankie.
Lucas has tried to stop his boyfriend getting involved in Rex’s dodgy dealings and called the police when he found out about the stolen goods.

This week, Lucas ended up taking drugs at one of the house parties to prove he isn’t boring, but things went seriously wrong, and Dillon found him unresponsive on the floor.

Lucas’s fate remained up in the air, and while it has been confirmed that he recovers from the incident, his drug use will lead to some difficult conversations with dad Ste.
In scenes that will air next week, Ste wakes up to find his old flame Rex looking after both Clara and James. While Ste is grateful for his help, he makes it clear that he doesn’t need him to be his nurse.

Rex refuses to give up and admits that he finds it hard to stay away from Ste. The two men go for a walk, where they open up about their feelings and struggles.
Meanwhile, Lucas tells Dillon that he wants nothing to do with him or Rex following the dramatic events at the party. Dillon delivers a package to Grace, and when she sees him showing off in his new car, she advises the teenager to stay under the radar.
Ste tries to figure out why Lucas turned to drugs, while Lucas makes it clear to his dad that he thinks Rex is trouble. The pair are at odds, but Rex offers to smooth things over with Lucas.

Lucas finds himself stuck in the middle, and he doesn’t feel able to admit the truth about what happened as he wants to protect Dillon.
Rex gets a taste of family life, with new pictures showing he and Ste sharing a kiss, and he promises Lucas that he will walk away from his dad if he ever makes him unhappy.
What is Rex’s next move, and can Ste and Lucas trust him?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
