Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (November 12) which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has revealed a major new mystery involving Rex Gallagher, in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Freddie found out that Grace had lied to him about Lexi’s accident, as she knew that her son Curtis pushed her and caused her head injury.
In today’s episode, Ste confronted Rex for ignoring him after he gave him an alibi to the police, and he explained that he had been affected by Freddie and Grace’s drama.

Ste then spotted Rex talking to Misbah, where she said that she will "make sure there is no trace of him at the house", and he assumed that they were talking about his late husband James.

When Ste confronted Misbah about it, she appeared shifty. Suspicious, he rushed off to take matters into his own hands and broke into Misbah’s house to investigate.
While looking for clues, Misbah returned home. Ste demanded she tell him where James is, and when the pair ended up in a struggle, he accidentally pushed her to the floor.

Ste was distraught when he realised that he had killed Misbah, and as he tried to wrap her body in the rug, Donny arrived. He tried to explain what had happened, but Donny was confused – Misbah had never been there.
Donny called the police on Ste for breaking in, and Misbah returned home alive and well. With Ste in a worrying mental state, he was arrested and taken away.
Meanwhile, Rex gave his nephew Curtis £100 to stick to the story about Lexi, and it was revealed that it was in fact Rex who hurt her and caused her epilepsy – but Freddie had overheard him admit the truth.

Freddie was furious and punched Rex, before Grace also found out what happened. Rex explained that Curtis and Lexi had invented an imaginary friend called ‘J’, and they would post letters in his bag to be able to talk to him.
That night, Lexi pulled something dodgy from Rex’s bag, so he snatched it from her and she fell to the floor. He left her with a head injury, and she had a seizure when Freddie returned home.
Later, Curtis asked about his friend J, but Grace was adamant that he didn’t exist. However, the episode ended with a mysterious scene which showed a figure writing a note from J, which said: "I am still trapped in the house – please come soon."

The handwriting was identical to the notes that Ste previously found on Rex’s desk. Are Ste’s theories about James all in his head, or is there something more sinister going on?
