Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode on Channel 4's streaming service.
Hollyoaks aired some dark scenes tonight (July 30) as Dave Williams told Cindy the truth about what happened to Lizzie's baby.
Before her tragic death earlier this year, Lizzie shared that she got pregnant as a teenager and gave her baby up for adoption. Following Lizzie's passing, Cindy decided to look for her child, despite Dave's protests. Yesterday, he told her he took out a loan to pay off the search, and that the baby was dead.
In the latest episode, Cindy demanded to know the whole truth, and he relented, explaining how he went to where Lizzie was staying and saw a man leaving.

"I gave chase. I was upset, and I was flashing him. I wanted him to stop," he said. "And he wouldn't. I slammed on my breaks just in time, to see his car, and the noise, I could still hear it rolling down that embankment. By the time I get down there, he's dead.

"And that's when I see the baby blanket. And the man who I thought was the father, the man who was driving, turned out to be a social worker named Philip. Had a wife and two kids... It was my fault. I killed both of them."
If that wasn't twisted enough, he also admitted that, with the police assuming it was an accident, he told social services he would tell Lizzie that her baby had died. But he never did, letting her think the baby had been adopted.
"They held a funeral for my granddaughter. I stood at the back, looking at that tiny coffin, knowing it was all my fault," he added. "I swore that day I would never tell. You have no idea how hard it is to live your life pretending you're a decent father, knowing it's a lie. I don't expect you to believe this, but everything I did was to protect my family.
"I'd rather have my daughter live in ignorance than break her heart."
Cindy forgave him. She told him he'd made a terrible mistake, but the love he has for his family shows the real him, and that's why she's with him.

During his confession, Dave said that he doesn't know who the father is, but viewers know it's actually Kitty Draper, who had sex with Lizzie long before she started transitioning.
Speaking of Kitty, Beau Ramsey handed himself into the police after they discovered Declan's body in Hunter's grave. Although he tried to make out like he acted alone, DS Zoe Anderson went over to the Hutchinson's place and told Kitty that she should confess her involvement.
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
