Hollyoaks tonight (January 8) aired another shock twist in the saga surrounding Rayne's murder as Romeo (Owen Warner) was kidnapped after he decided to hand himself over to the police.

Previously, Romeo admitted that he accidentally killed his girlfriend Rayne after a showdown that resulted in her death. At the start of this new episode, Romeo opened up to his housemates about that night, and Hunter confronted Romeo for letting his brother wind up in jail.

Hunter then made to phone the police, but Romeo implored him for time to explain himself. Romeo said that he felt like everything was his fault in his relationship with Rayne, but that he never meant to kill her because he truly loved her.

In the bathroom, Peri told Romeo to keep his distance and expressed how betrayed she felt. Romeo insisted that he was still the person she fell for. Romeo revealed that he did tell somebody else but refused to say who before Peri stormed out again.

Romeo told Hunter that the reason he let Prince take the fall was because he, Romeo, is “weak” and that he hates himself. Romeo said he deserved everything coming his way and told them to call the police, but Hunter refused.

In a quiet moment, Hunter said he doesn’t forgive Romeo for what he did to Prince, while Romeo revealed that he was the one who wrote the letter saying that Prince was innocent. Prince advised Romeo to hand himself in – and Romeo agreed.

Right at the end of the episode, however, as Romeo was mere metres away from the police station to hand himself in, he was abducted and shoved into the back of the van, which then sped off.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
